Emmy and Academy Award winning sculptor Wesley Wofford works from his private studio in Cashiers, North Carolina. His style emphasizes the sculptor’s presence, and is characterized by a dynamic use of form and texture. His diverse body of work and his unique vision for sculptural language produce powerful commissions. Wesley’s independent works provoke passionate responses and he is known for his intimate, emotionally charged portraits. Wesley is available for commissions ranging from small intimate portraits, site-specific garden pieces, or large architectural accents.
Wesley has worked on over 75 motion pictures and television shows. His credits include A Beautiful Mind, Hannibal, Batman and Robin, The Rock, and Collateral. He has personally worked with such actors as Tom Cruise, Robin Williams, Julia Roberts, Will Smith, Chow Yun-Fat, and Russell Crowe. He has been featured in numerous magazine articles and television coverage and has received many awards, including an Emmy from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences as well as an Academy Award. In 2011 he was elected into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as an official voting member.
Wesley moved to Cashiers in 2004 to focus on his Fine Art Sculpture, which has begun to be recognized on a national level with various awards and publications celebrating and featuring his work. He still works on the occasional film to "keep a fresh perspective on both his sculpture and his psyche", but spends most of his time pursuing both public and private commissions as well as completing his own compositions. The studio is filled with sculptures at various stages of completion, the large commissions occupying the same space as the portraits, gallery pieces, and maquette studies for submissions. While he is in the studio, he is submerged in the work and it all speaks and informs both him and one another. He continuously participates in both indoor and outdoor exhibitions throughout the country. In 2011 he became an elected member of The National Sculpture Society, the oldest sculpture organization in the United States. Wesley welcomes anyone interested in his work to contact him directly or schedule an appointment to come by the studio.
