The resort towns of Highlands and Cashiers are situated on a mountaintop plateau of the Nantahala National Forest in the Appalachian Mountains of Western North Carolina. These towns are nestled in a paradise of lush emerald landscapes sprinkled with brilliant flora of the rhododendron and native laurel, with countless hiking trails, spectacular waterfalls and breath-taking views. Highlands and Cashiers are known for high-end shops, restaurants, museums, playhouses, art and craft shows and other cultural events, but they are also known for golf courses and country clubs. There are 20 private clubs and public golf courses (four public golf courses, three tennis and dining clubs and 13 private country clubs) all within a 30-miles radius of Highlands and Cashiers.

The variety of amenities and activities available are generous. Each golf course is uniquely designed, offers different levels of play at varying elevations, some as high as 4200 feet, which make for amazing views and cool temperatures.
